In a building South swell on North Stradbroke Island,Thomas Woods took the gamble of surfing down the beach on a shore break and was rewarded with his quarter final win and a place in the semi final where he will meet local surfer Tim Macdonald and fellow Coolangatta surfer Jack Freestone.
